Top 10 Brooklin Mini Idols announced BROOKLIN -- Names of the top 10 Brooklin Mini Idols for this year have been announced. The talented youth, ages 12 and under, are Charleigh Lepp, Taiya Bailey, Matthew Doran, Victoria Heaney, Christine D'Mello, Hanna Harper, Ciro Perono, Lauren Dillen, Jaxon Vessio and Sophia Ewaniuk. "It's a very exciting year for these brilliant singers," says program director Rob Hanson. "They will participate in workshops, numerous performances, a recording session, a video shoot, a photo shoot, and a whole lot more." Singers from across Whitby auditioned for a chance to be part of this award-winning program presented by The Optimist Club of Brooklin. Some of their upcoming performances include Christmas in the Village on Nov. 23 and Breakfast with Santa on Nov. 25. "The Brooklin Mini Idol program gives Whitby youth who love to sing an opportunity to do just that," says Sandra Mammone, artistic director of Brooklin Mini Idol. "We want to give them opportunities to expand their experience this year before they compete in May for the title of Brooklin Mini Idol 2013." VISIT: www.miniidol.ca Brooklin community invited to Christmas in the Village Nov. 23 BROOKLIN -- Santa Claus is coming to town and Mayor Pat Perkins and members of Whitby council invite the community to join them for an old-fashioned Christmas in the Village. Residents can enjoy candlelight carolling, horse-drawn wagon rides, hot refreshments, a craft show, seasonal activities, downtown shopping and, of course, a visit from Santa. Donations will be accepted for the annual "Fill the Sleigh" food and toy drive. Christmas in the Village will take place on Friday, Nov. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Grass Park, 41 Baldwin St., Brooklin.
