8 Friday, April 23, 2021 brooklintowncrier.com In May, Restoring Kindness Canada (RKC) is inviting local communities to join in the 30/30 Challenge: 30 Acts of Kindness in 30 Days. RKC was launched in Whitby in 2020 during COVID-19, a time when communities were struggling with sickness and division. A group of community members, originally initiated by Kevin Casey, owner of QJS Specialty Cleaning Inc in Brooklin, felt it was time we needed to get back to doing something for others, not just posting on social media. The concept is simple: treat a stranger to lunch, write encouraging words to random people, cut your neighbor's lawn, pay for the person behind you in the coffee line, etc. Share this challenge with your friends, workplace or family members. Make it a personal or group challenge. Leave a #RestoringKindnessCanada postcard and encourage others to pay it forward, post their experience of giving or receiving kindness and tag the Restoring Kindness Canada Facebook Page. Join the individuals, corporations and nonprofits that have partnered with RKC and have accepted the 30/30 Challenge. They ask that you share the movement with other individuals across Canada to share their acts of kindness.
