23 GUNTHARDT, Christina Charlotte February 21, 1960 - December 24, 2021 "Be somebody who makes everybody feel like a somebody Control the Controllable Faith over fear Do what you can while you can" ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ These were Christina's mantra's she lived by every day and anyone who knew her heard these on a regular basis. These meant a lot to Christina and helped her through the last two years during her struggle with cancer, which ultimately took her life on the morning of December 24, 2021 at Lake Ridge Health Oshawa. Christina is predeceased by her mother and father Irmgard and Walter, mother and father in-law Helen and Harry, Uncles and Aunts Reiner and Jan, Joe and Trudy, Rita and Carl, Hans and Trudy and Ulrich. Christina is survived and sadly missed by her husband Grant, brother Walter (Renate), sister Renate (Henry), brother Peter, brother Charles (Robin), brother in-law Russell (Kathryn) Sister in-law Darlene, nieces Krista (Marshall), Candice (Mike), Kate, Liz, nephews Erik, Kory (Lindsey) and Matthew, great nieces and nephews, Zachary, Michael, Jessica, Damen, Taylor, Natalie and Lincoln. Christina will also be missed by her many cousins in Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Philippines and by the many people whose hearts she touched. Growing up in Ajax, Christina was the middle of 5 children and from an early age was active in sports and continued playing ringette into her 50's. Christina attended Ajax high school where she had a close friendship with a circle of girlfriends that continued throughout her life with annual weekend getaways to many locations in Ontario. She graduated from Trent University with a Bachelor of Science and completed Teachers College at Queens University. Christina taught French for several years then switched careers and worked for the Canadian Mental Health Association for 20 years. Christina became an accomplished photographer and anyone she met never escaped without an "FTR" (For the Record) photo being taken. Grant and Christina became the perfect team, Grant playing the music and Christina taking the photos. Christina was thrilled to have a photo published in Cottage Life Magazine and by having the honour to photograph her niece Krista's wedding in Jamaica. Family and friends were everything to Christina and sharing the love of the cottage became a regular event multiple times per year. The more people the merrier and the cottage was the place where so many amazing happy memories were created. A memorial service will take place at the McEachnie Funeral home in Ajax when it is safe to do so. Donations in memory of Christina can be made to Covenant House or Ovarian Cancer Canada. STOKES, Suzanne Corinne (nee Geary) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Of Oshawa, passed away peacefully on New Year's Day in her 87th year, at Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry. The fourth of nine sisters, she was born in Peterborough in 1935 and deeply blessed by the loving example of her parents George and Georgette (Beausoleil). A life- long reader, she imagined a rich family life for herself and her "twinkly-eyed" Irishman, Denis Michael Benedict Stokes, who predeceased her in 2002. Together they wrote their story of abounding love and joy and humour. She is survived by her grateful children Denis (Mary), Joseph (Cathy), Neil (Tina), Annette (Michael) and Seán (Carol), her seventeen grandchildren and their partners, and her twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sisters and brothers-in-law - Rita, Georgette (Richard) and Denise (Robert) - as well as by dozens of nephews and nieces. Our mother was a remarkable woman of great generosity and razor-sharp wit. Though she will be dearly missed, her legacy will continue as her gifts of love continue to reverberate, and to sustain the lives of her many descendants. Visitation and funeral for close family by invitation only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry.
