The shotgun was recovered when it was returned to aDurham police station, service spokesman Chris Bovie said Thursday, Jan. 27. "A shotgun was turned in to (Durham police) on Jan. 17," Bovie said. "I can confirm it was a police-issued shotgun," he said. Bovie said he was unaware of how the gun came to be in the community or the location of the police station where it was turned in.Information from the community indicated the gun had been found in south Oshawa. Bovie denied a report that the gun had been recovered by a young person. "It was not a minor," he said. An investigation into the matter continues, Bovie said. James Park, 31, is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, according to OPP. He is currently serving a sentence of four years and eight months for drug and weapons offences.
