DURHAMREGION.COM We had a little snow on Jan. 17. Well, more than a little. How about 55 centimetres in Oshawa, which may be a record. That's one of the findings in a survey of what southern Durham municipalities do -- and don't do -- when it comes to snow clearing in your neighbourhood. Let's start with some com- mon issues: All municipalities have a dedicated number of staff, plus some on contract, who work long hours to clear snow. And there is a method to the madness. The main roads are done first -- that is, the ones most travelled in any municipality. Think Taunton Road in all municipalities, or WHAT HAPPENS WITH SNOW-CLEARING IN YOUR MUNICIPALITY?
