durhamregion.com This Week | Thursday, February 17 ,2022 | 22 ELLIOTT, Deborah (Penny) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Like a beautiful sunrise and a warm cup of coffee or an evening sunset with a glass of wine...Deborah Penelope Elliott (Penny) was as tranquil as this description. Never one to stand out in the crowd but powerful just the same. In her heart of all hearts, she was the most caring woman anyone could meet. She had this innate ability to calm the waters of your soul when faced with a difficult time. A saving grace for those CFTO colleagues whom she had to call up to "Carpet City". Always wanting to help others and make people happy even when she was struggling herself. Lazy summer days at the cottage..... waterskiing and boating, horseshoes, Christmas parties and dancing around the jukebox... with family and friends... she was described as the "hostess with the mostest" always ensuring a good time was had by everyone. Penny faced many challenges in her life with the ultimate grace. Parkinson's disease put a kink in her life plans but she never stopped thinking of others right to the very end. She donated her organs for research in hopes of discovering a better future for others who may be stricken with this disease. Always helping even at the time of her death. Penny was an incredible mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed by all. Survived by her daughter Christine (Matt) and son Curtis (Marie), her grandchildren Brieanna (Francis), MacKenna (Crispin), Gavin and Hannah. Sister to Donna (Jimmy) and Keith (Marilyn) and many nieces and nephews. Lovingly known as GAP (Great Aunt Penny) to many. She loved everyone so very, very much and would have given the world to each. Parkinson's was certainly not in the plans for Penny but she never complained. As in everything in life that was thrown at her, she dealt with it with grace, dignity, class, elegance and hope. She never gave up hope. Diagnosed at 42...she fought for 32 years. Almost half of her life. Thank you to Brockville General Hospital and the staff of nurses and PSWs on the 2nd floor (and Dr. Kang) who were so amazing and supportive. Thank you Toronto Western Hospital (Dr. Lazano, Dr. Moreau and Yuyan to name a few) for never giving up on her. Thank you to St. Lawrence Lodge nurses and PSWs and their wonderful care. And thank you to The Village of Taunton Mills which was Moms home for the past 15 years. Also I want to thank my cousin Debbie who has been such a huge support to all of us and was to my Mom as well. She loved and was loved by so many there. We will be celebrating this beautiful person in the spring when the weather is nicer and COVID has subsided. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made https://support.tgwhf.ca/site/D onation2?1486.donation=form1 &df_id=1486&mfc_pref=T&_ga =2.103650624.1990816339.16 44256826-5758216 .1644256826 *direct your gift click "other' in dropdown and then *Other gift designation please type "Movement Disorder Centre Toronto Western Hospital". All donations will go towards the exact research program that Penny donated her organs towards. "She had strength beyond strength And faith beyond faith. She had nothing, yet would give you everything. She had courage and strength And determination and grit. She was brave and beautiful. Now there is no pain. Now there is no fear. Now there is only comfort, peace, forgiveness and joy. She is free, she is happy again And home where she belongs. She lives on; she is in us, and she is with us, always. She is the light that will never go out." We love you Mom always and forever PATEMAN, Brian Joseph ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ After a long and courageous fight with cancer, we announce the passing of Brian Joseph Pateman in the early morning on February 8, 2022, at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa. No stain was on your little heart, sin had not entered there; and innocence slept sweetly on that pale white brow so fair. You were too pure for this cold earth, too beautiful to stay, and so God's holy angel bore our darling one away. May the winds of love blow softly and whisper so you'll hear; we will always love and miss you and wish that you were here. 1-800-263-6480 classifieds@metroland.comCLASSIFIEDS OBITUARIES | ANNOUNCEMENTS | JOBS | MARKETPLACE
