The 1635 Dundas St. E. facility, which has been operated by Lakeridge Health since a COVID-19 outbreak in late 2020 led to 34 deaths, 117 resident infections and 78 staff infections, is officially closing its doors for good this spring. Staff and residents were sent a letter by Lakeridge Health notifying them of the impending closure on Feb. 16. That's exactly two months before Lakeridge Health's management contract to operate Sunnycrest runs out on April 16, 2022. Lakeridge has been running Sunnycrest since December 2020.
