The incident happened on Wednesday, March 2 at about 11:20 p.m., when Durham Regional Police officers noticed a red Dodge Caravan in the area of Fundy Street and Quetico Court in Oshawa. The vehicle plates were confirmed as stolen, police said. Officers tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver fled and didn't stop for police, added police. Officers terminated the pursuit due to public safety concerns. Air1 was in the area and located the fleeing vehicle on Bragg Road, north of Hwy. 2 in Clarington. Police managed to stop the vehicle and arrested a man and woman, police said. A 36-year-old Oshawa man is facing three counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, failing to stop for police - pursuit, 10 counts of procure to be made, possess, transfer, sell identity document of another, nine counts of breach of probation, three counts of operation while prohibited, failing to comply with an undertaking and dangerous operation. He was held for a bail hearing. A 31-year-old Ajax woman has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. She was released on an undertaking.
