What does that look like in downtown spaces? What do small businesses need to bounce back? "More than anything, what we've seen is a decrease in foot traffic," says Maddie Riley, executive director of the Downtown Whitby BIA, adding getting back to hosting events downtown is a key focus. Two events late last year brought life and energy to the streets of Whitby. "We heard directly from the businesses that they saw an increase in traffic and an increase in sales," she says.
