Walmart Canada confirms the store at King Street East and Townline Road is set to close in May when the lease ends. "All associates at this store are being offered positions at nearby stores," the company says in a statement. "The Oshawa community will continue to be well-served with four other Walmart locations in the area." Renovations are taking place at three local Walmart stores this year -- the Oshawa Supercentre on Laval Drive, the Oshawa North Supercentre on Harmony Road North and the Whitby Supercentre on Baldwin Street South. The company says $23 million is being invested in the renovations. "Walmart Canada is committed to evaluating our store network to ensure we can offer the very best experience for our customers and ensure continued growth," the company statement notes.
