Since the pandemic began, we have all faced is teaching us any lessons, it is that we are more resilient than we realized; sometimes we have to learn how to take care of ourselves again. Trish discovered this during the pandemic. The 70-year-old Clarington resident recently went through some major life changes. "My life went through a complete transition. I lost my spouse, sold my house, and moved to a new before and I knew I had to concentrate on my LIVE WELL Exercise Clinic is the ultra-private gym for people with health concerns - from obesity to diabetes to heart conditions, or those who need help regaining bone strength and balance, and for health prevention. The recommended amount of exercise for Canadians for physical and mental health is 150 minutes weekly and LIVE WELL encourages members to meet this guideline. Members work with trained exercise professionals one-on-one, having health concerns, and then can come together in a group setting to hit their goals! Small group LIVE WELL family, you look forward to not only the endorphins of exercise, but to the joy of community. Substantial worldwide data has shown that community is essential to our physical and mental health - it provides us with a sense of belonging and togetherness. In the last year social isolation has taken its toll on us, with seniors impacted the most. Trish feels like she is taking an active part in her physical and mental well-being and doing it in a community of like-minded people. "I've achieved some of my goals that I originally started with, and I have accomplished a few that I never thought I would even do. It's because of the coaching, they keep me accountable to myself and to them and I just love being here. Most importantly, it gave me a sense of community and made me feel energized and positive." Canadians became more sedentary during the pandemic - in fact, one-third report having both gained weight, and moving less than they did a year ago. Health complications surrounding a sedentary lifestyle include chronic illness such as Type 2 diabetes, depression, loss of mobility and more than half the population. But the journey back to health is not hard - and it begins with one small step, and two important questions: How can I LIVE WELL today? How can I LIVE WELL for all of my days? Trish shares: "LIVE WELL helped me through COVID. If I did not have this place - I would be 20 pounds heavier, I would not be leaving the house. I would have become a hermit. By coming here, I found a safe place. I stopped the depression and overeating. The hardest decision I had the door."
