Betty was a loving mother to William (Donna Couch), and Phillip (Donna Hearn). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Nick (Amanda) and Jenni (Jake). Betty was predeceased by her parents William and Edna Woods (nee Scholtz). In her younger years, Betty was an avid member of Agincourt Baptist Church and the One Parent Families organization in Scarborough. After retiring from the Durham District School Board in 2010 Betty became an avid quilter who belonged to many quilting organizations in Durham Region. She made many beautiful creations to donate to various community organizations over the years. Betty will be missed dearly by her family and her many quilting friends in Durham and beyond. A special thank you to the staff at Kingston General Hospital for their care and especially to Betty's lifelong friend Carolyn Belleghem for her kindness and devotion during Betty's last days. HAKKAKU, Joe November 21, 1927 - April 21, 2022 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ With great sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Joe on April 21 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in his 95th year. He was predeceased by Kiyo (Takeuchi) in 2012, his loving wife of 62 years. Joe was the dearly loved father of Joanne (Joel) and David (Eva). Joe was the last of his generation of the Hakkaku-Takeuchi family. He will be missed by his nephews and nieces: Bobby, Dennis (Carol), Geri, Norm (Marion), Bob (Linda), Ken (Rosemary), and Cindy (Greg), and many other relatives and friends. Joe will be forever remembered for his gentle nature and sense of humour. He was the owner of Woodgreen Cleaners in Toronto for many years, and he enjoyed his daily chats with customers and the other local small business owners. Joe also enjoyed spending time in his home garden. After retirement, Joe and Kiyo took up ballroom dancing where they made many new friends. As per his wishes cremation will take place. A celebration of Joe's life will be planned in the future. Left to mourn is his beloved wife and friend Ann (Annie) of 59 years. His son Leonard and his wife Jolanda. Grandchildren Weston and Amanda. Sister Pamela and many family and friends. Predeceased by his daughter Kim (1991). Ronald was born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1936 to Ethel and Dexter Allen. Ron was educated at Appleby College in Oakville and graduated from McMaster University in 1958. A vibrant and passionate person who loved people, Ron started the financial services department of W.B. White Insurance in Oshawa where he enjoyed many years in the financial industry before his retirement. He served terms as both President of the Kiwanis Club of Oshawa and President of the Oshawa Probus Club, and with a lifelong appreciation for music, was a member of the Clarington Ukulele Club. At Ron's request, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held.
