On Saturday, May 28 at about 10:30 p.m., a York Regional Police officer saw a vehicle and learned the registered owner was wanted by another police service. A traffic stop was conducted and the man driving the vehicle was arrested, York police said in a statement. Officers searched the vehicle and a gun was found and the passenger, another man, was also arrested, police added. Jevon Marshall, 28, of Pickering and Vehdaul Dundas, 28, of Cobourg were both arrested. Charges against them include possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, transports firearm, weapon prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner, possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized and unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition. PICKERING MAN ARRESTED WITH UNAUTHORIZED GUN CRIME An Oshawa man has been arrested following a carjacking incident in York Region. On Wednesday, May 25, at about 10 p.m., a man was sitting in his Mercedes at a plaza at Leslie Street and Greenhill Avenue in Richmond Hill when he was approached by two men armed with handguns. The victim was assaulted and the suspects stole his watch, wallet and cellphone before fleeing in the victim's vehicle, York Regional Police reported. The York police helicopter, Air2, was able to follow the suspects and officers found them at an address in Toronto, police noted. The suspects were arrested and the vehicle was recovered, police added. A 19-year-old man from Oshawa and a 19-year-old man of no fixed address were charged with robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent and possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm. There's been a spate of carjackings in the GTA recently, including six attempted incidents between 10 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25 to Thursday, May 26.
