The Brooklin High School Girls' Field Lacrosse team was crowned Lake Ontario Secondary School Athletics (LOSSA) champions on May 26 at VASO's field. After missing three full seasons due to the pandemic, 10 teams returned to LOSSA action for the 2021/2022 season. Even after the absence of three full seasons, the usual suspects, Brooklin High School and Maxwell Heights, met in the final for a fast-paced, intense and exciting final. After four quarters, Brooklin prevailed in an 11-8 victory. Maggie Cuddy, the Brooklin captain and two-way midfielder, led all scorers with five goals. According to coach Carolyn Toll, "Maggie Cuddy dominated in all aspects of the game today. Her offensive prowess was evident as she scored five. However, it was her leadership on defense that allowed us to successfully execute our game plan. She is a positive leader who understands the concept of 'team' as she truly makes those around her better." The Brooklin supporting cast included Alissa Digiacinto (3g, 2a); Maive Partlow (2g); Ella Hughes (1g); Reese Whiteman (2a); Olivia Grosjean (2a); Lauren Lyons (1a); Kate Jackson (1a). Tyesha Mareus (2g; 1a) led all Maxwell scorers, complimented by Jillian McNaughton (2g); Danielle Radovich (1g); Sydney Taylor (1g); Grace Hardy (1g, 1a); and Rylan Haslam (1g, 1a). LOSSA was scheduled to host the OFSAA Sanctioned Trillium Cup on June 1-2 at VASO's field where both teams were favoured to contend for the provincial title.
