BENNIE, Grant William ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Grant William Bennie, in his 80th year, passed away in his home surrounded by his family on June 16, 2022. Grant is survived by his wife Cassandra of 50 years. Cherished father of; Erinne Bennie-Tomkins (Cameron) and Cristyn Shannon (Ryan), and Grandpa to Bethany, Nathanial, Gareth and Gabriel. Grant had a full life and was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone. A retired member of the Toronto Star, an active member of Harmony United Church and Westminster United Church. Spent as much time as possible at his favourite place, the family cottage. A celebration of life service will be held at Westminster United Church (1850 Rossland Rd E, Whitby, ON L1N 3P2) at 11:00 a.m. on July 7, 2022. Loving father of Andrew Fawcett and Elizabeth Wetmore (Jon). Cherished grandfather of Ben, Abby and Cameron, who he was so proud of. Survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Nora Henderson (Jim), David Whitehead (Linda), and Georgina Whitehead and many nieces and nephews who meant so much to him. Predeceased by his dear sisters Grace Brown (Ken) and Gwen MacDonald (Ken) and brothers - in - law Stan Whitehead (Betty), Bob Whitehead, and Bud Whitehead and friend of nearly 80 years Jim Gartshore. Dad was a very generous, kind man who was always first in line to help a neighbour or friend. He was a dedicated family man and an avid musician, golfer and euchre player. He had a great silly sense of humour and never refused a piece of pie. He will be missed. Arrangements to be announced at a later date. IKONOMIDIS, Michael Sotirios (1933-2022) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Michael Ikonomidis died peacefully from COVID at the Village of Taunton Mills, Whitby, on Saturday, June 18, 2022 in his 89th year. Mike was born in Kalamata, Greece. After graduating as an electrical engineer from the University of Athens and serving his compulsory military duty (NATO Forces), he immigrated to Canada in 1960. In Toronto, Mike designed and sold components for international electrical supply companies. While living in Pickering, Mike pursued his passion for tennis, winning several tennis championships. V.W. Bro Michael was a proud, dedicated Mason: Past Master of Friendship #729 and Heritage #730 Lodges; former member of Birch Cliff #712 and Doric #424; District Secretary of (old) Toronto #3, Grand Pursuivant, York Rite, Scottish Rite and Oshawa Shrine Club. He was a Past Patron of Ontario Chapter #227 (Ajax), and a Grand Officer (2008), Order of the Eastern Star. In 1999 Mike met Gay (nee Bonisteel) Adair at a Masonic luncheon. They married in 2001, enjoyed dancing, travelling and Mike's cooking. Two years ago, they made "the right move at the right time" to Taunton Mills. Last year, with advancing Alzheimer's, Mike moved to the memory care floor. The Taunton Mills team members have been so very compassionate, kind, and helpful to Mike, as well as Gay. The family is sincerely grateful. Michael will be remembered by his son, (Dr.) John (Krystal) Ikonomidis, and forever in the hearts of Gay and her family: Paul, Susan, Anne, Louise, Amy, Carter and Carol; other relatives, friends and neighbours. At a later date there will be a Celebration of Life, but in the interim please toast Michael with a glass (or two) of red wine or Grand Marnier. VALLIER, Betty ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ On June 20, 2022, Betty Marie Vallier died with her dignity and on own her own terms at Lakeridge Health Oshawa at the age of 83. A loving woman, a wonderful mother and grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Her husband Fred Vallier, her son Doug and wife Arden Eldridge, her stepdaughter Laurie Vallier (predeceased) her grandson Joshua Eldridge, her granddaughter Alanna Collins and husband Travis and her great grandsons, Oliver and Lane. Her sister Beverly Burtch and Bob Watson, her sister Marlene Gray (predeceased) and Jack Harris. Her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Eleanore was predeceased by her eldest son Christopher Worona November 17, 2021. Also predeceased by her brothers Richard (Dick), Bernard (Ben), John, Harry, James (Jimmy) and Joseph Lack.
