Susie Kockerscheidt/Metroland COMMUNITY WARMING UP AND LEADING THE WAY Police have released security camera images as they try to identify a suspect in a series of arson and mischief incidents last month in Whitby. The unknown male is believed to be responsible for three incidents in which damage was caused to homes and vehicles in the area of Country Lane and Medland Avenue, Durham police said. The incidents occurred June 5. Images released by investigations show a man wearing gloves, a ball cap and a medical mask and carrying an axe. In a media release July 6, police urged the suspect to consult with a lawyer and turn himself in. POLICE TRYING TO IDENTIFY SUSPECT IN WHITBY INCIDENTS Police have released images of a suspect in a series of arson and mischief incidents that occurred June 5 in Whitby. Durham Regional Police NEWS A Whitby man faces weapons charges after police allege he fired a gun into a vehicle with three people inside. Officers were dispatched to Dundas Street and Halls Road area just after 10:30 p.m. on July 6 after receiving reports about shots fired, say Durham police. After scouring the area, the officers located evidence of a shooting, say police. According to police, the suspect "discharged a firearm into an occupied vehicle," but none of the three people inside were injured. The suspect was located nearby and police seized a handgun during the arrest. Seth Bibby, a 22-year-old Whitby man, has been charged with numerous firearmrelated offences, including possession of firearm contrary to order, carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a firearm knowing the serial number was tampered with, and reckless discharge of a firearm.
