Eleven people have been charged with a total of 104 drug and firearm charges after officers carried out 11 search warrants last month in Springwater Township, Barrie and across the Greater Toronto Area, including Whitby and Ajax. The Ontario Provincial Police Central Region Community Street Crime Unit led 'Project Holcus', which commenced in April 2022, in partnership with the Barrie Police Service, in response to fatal and non-fatal overdoses linked to trafficking of crack cocaine and fentanyl in Simcoe County between Jan. 1, 2022 and June 6, 2022. As a result of the investigation, police seized 509 grams of fentanyl (the equivalent of 5,090 street level doses, according to OPP), 3,358 grams of cocaine, 33 grams of crack cocaine, 741 grams of methamphetamine, 347 grams of heroin and 1,446 unidentified prescription capsules. Police also seized $81,460 in Canadian currency, a money counter, cutting agent, four handguns, ammunition and a bulletproof vest. Four vehicles, 18 cellphones and eight digital scales were also taken by police. Daniel Robinson, 29, of Whitby, faces 15 drug and firearm charges, while Whitby's Kourtney Lammie, 23, has been charged with 23 drug and firearm offences. Also facing 11 drug and firearm charges is Kaprice Lammie, 26, of Whitby. DeShawn Chin, 26, of Ajax, was charged with eight drug and firearm offences while Nicholas Robinson, 30, of Ajax, is facing four drug-related charges. A sixth person from Durham, an unnamed 24-year-old Whitby resident, also faces 10 firearm and drug charges. Officers involved in the search warrant executions involved those from the OPP emergency response team, OPP tactics and rescue unit, OPP canine unit, Barrie Police Service, Toronto Police Service, Durham Regional Police Service, Peterborough Police Service, Peel Regional Police Service, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and York Regional Police Service.
