It is, say region officials. The Region of Durham and Neptune Technology Group have been scheduling appointments with property owners whose water meters are 20 years old or older. "When in the midst of a meter replacement program, Neptune will place a door hanger as a reminder to residents who previously received a letter, but have not made contact, that they are encouraged to call and make an appointment," said Durham Region communications advisor Stacy Grant. "The letters have both Neptune and regional logos, as well as contact information for project staff. Neptune technicians will be wearing a Neptune uniform and have a Neptune and Region of Durham ID (identification)." The region also runs a separate meter replacement program where customers will see a red door hanger with the regional logo on the letters. Residents are asked to call and book an appointment under that program as well. Regional staff will attend wearing a regional uniform or in a regional truck. They will also have Region of Durham ID. For more information, contact the region at 905-668-7711.
