Dad graduated from the University of Toronto in Dentistry in 1955 with one of two gold medals. He married the love of his life Anne White (predeceased) and went to work in Newfoundland for the Red Cross on the St. Barbe coast, Woody Point, Cowhead and Port Saunders. He returned to Whitby and opened his practice where he eventually built his own office and practiced dentistry for 42 years. He was a charter member of the Whitby Curling Club serving as President for one year. He was on the board of the Ontario Ladies College from 1959 - 1991 serving as Chairman from 1968 - 1992. He enjoyed cruising and went across the Atlantic five times. Cottaging on Clear Lake was something he enjoyed for many years with his family, entertaining many friends along the way. He leaves behind three daughters, Sue (Hal) Bonnetta, Judy (Ford) DeFinney, Jane (Brad) DeFinney, and six grand- children, Graham (Jodi), Peter (Niki), John (Bri), Megan (Steve), Briar and Katie. He also had seven great- grandchildren, Victoria (predeceased), Keira, Brinley, Chad, Olivia, Jillian and Eleanor. Many thanks to Viva Whitby Shores and Lakeridge Gardens Long Term Care for their loving care towards Dad. A visitation for John will be held Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West, Oshawa, Ontario, followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 1:30 p.m. The family requests that masks are worn at all times during visitation and service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association. Nancy was an intelligent, passionate, and determined woman. She was full of laughter and love; her children and grandchildren meant the world to her.
