BROOKS (nee Taylor), Joane, Elizabeth ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Passed away peacefully just short of her 94th birthday on November 4, 2022 at Chartwell Wynfield LTC Home in Oshawa with all three of her children by her side. Graduating as an RN from Oshawa General Hospital in 1951, Joane was known as a very sensible, and hard working woman who sacrificed much for the love of her family and was loved so much in return. Throughout her life whether they were trying times or good times Joane always persevered with good humour and determination. Joane enjoyed knitting in her spare time donating countless scarves, hats and slippers to the hospital gift shops and Salvation Army over the years, as well as keeping the entire family stocked with a lifetime supply of knitted dish cloths. Joane was known to enjoy and share a rum and orange juice or glass of 20 Bees red wine with friends and family. Joane also enjoyed eating Turtle chocolates, but as all family members know she was much more reluctant to share the Turtles. As the matriarch of the family at large family dinners Joane was known to always offer the toast "If it wasn't for me... none of you would be here". A great lady that will be sorely missed! Joane was predeceased by Bud Brooks, her loving husband of 46 years. Dear mother of Beverly Joan Cowling and her husband Harold of Courtice, Diane Elizabeth James and her partner Ray Hopwood of Cobourg, and Thomas Richard Brooks and his wife Robin of Carleton Place. Joane was the dear grandmother of Laura (Scott), Elizabeth (Ryan), Allan (Rebecca), Jonathan (Laura), Corbin (Richelle), Jenean and Taylor. Known to them only as GG, Joane was also the loving great grandmother to Claire, Thomas, Patricia, Brooks, Mae, Evan, Abigail, Holly and Rowen. A private funeral service was held for the immediate family at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, Whitby on November 12, 2022. Friends and Family are welcome to attend a "Celebration of Life" on what would have been Joane's 94th birthday on November 26, 2022 from 2 to 5 p.m., at Chronicle Brewing, 422 Lake Rd., Bowmanville, On. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be a wonderful way to honour Joane's memory. OBITUARIES Loving and kind in all your ways, upright and just to the end of your days; sincere and true, in your heart and mind, beautiful memories, you left behind. In my heart your memory lingers, always tender, fond and true; there's not a day, dear friend, I do not think of you. Your memory is as dear today, as in the hour you passed away. Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep, I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glint on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn's rain. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die.
