Monday (Nov. 8) was quite a red letter day for the A.O.U.W. here. They had a visit from the Grand Master Workman, W.F. Unitt, Toronto: W.W. Hodgson, Grand I. Watchman; and T.S. Allen, Grand Organizer. Stirring addresses were delivered by each, and the principles of the order beautifully illustrated on canvass by lantern during Bro. Hodgson’s lecture. The local lodge has just added twenty-seven members to their roll. Refreshments were served during the evening, song and story indulged in, and midnight arrived before they retired, everyone delighted with the evening’s work and general progress of the order, which in now the oldest, largest and cheapest purely Canadian beneficiary society in the Province. Their organ, the Canadian Workman, reports an increase of 4,300 in nine months, and fully expects to be 6,000 by the end of the year. Special low rates are extended to Nov. 30th, for admission to the order.
