With one day remaining in the Canadian Olympic Gymnastics trials in Montreal, Whitby’s Lori Strong is in first place while Christina McDonald, also of Whitby, is third.
Strong recovered from two falls in a mat routine Saturday (July 30) to post a clean routine in the woman’s compulsories on Monday (Aug. 1). She had dropped to third place because of the falls after being in first following the first day of competition.
Strong has a point total of 115.475 with Janine Rankin of Mississauga, second with 115 points.
McDonald remains in third place with 114.975 points (the competition wrapped up yesterday, Tuesday Aug. 2 after the Free Press deadline.)
Seventeen women are vying for the six places on the Canadian Women’s Olympic team.
