- This is a black and white portrait of Mrs. John James Hare (Katherine Isabelle McDowell) (1854-1922).
- Notes
- This was one of three single portraits in a frame with a composite picture of student body in 1894.
Katherine Isabella McDowell, daughter of Rev. D.C. McDowell, was born in 1854, and was married to Rev. John James Hare, Principal of the Ontario Ladies' College, on September 28, 1874, at Barrie, Ontario. Mrs. Hare was an early lady principal of the school. She died at Rockford Illinois, U.S.A., on March 11, 1922, and is buried at Union Cemetery, Oshawa. - Date of Original
