- A black and white photograph of Robert Jackson Correll.
- Notes
- Robert Jackson Correll of the 5th C.M.R. was born at Port Whitby on June 27, 1890. He was wounded at the Battle of the Somme in World War One, on September 16, 1916, and was evacuated to a hospital in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England where he died on September 23, 1916. He is buried at Lodge Hill Cemetery, Birmingham, England. He was Whitby's first soldier to die from wounds in the First World War and is commemorated by a memorial window in St. John's Anglican Church, Port Whitby.
