- Private Frederick Lewis Anderson was born in Toronto on June 14, 1920, son of James and Susan Anderson. He moved to Whitby in 1923 where he attended St. Bernard's Separate School and Whitby High School. He was employed at the Whitby Malleable Iron and Brass Co. and was a member of the Whitby Citizen's Band. He enlisted in 1940 and went overseas in July 1944 after training at Toronto, Ontario; British Columbia; Sussex, New Brunswick; and, Debert, Nova Scotia. He was killed at Veen, Germany on March 7, 1945 while acting as a stretcher bearer.
According to the Canadian Virtual War Memorial site he is commemorated at page 491 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance. He is interred at GROESBEEK CANADIAN WAR CEMETERY, Netherlands. - Inscriptions
