Thomas Marshall Reported Missing-Private "Bud" Heard Wounded
On Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Heard, Mary Street, were advised from Ottawa that their son, Gunner J. L. "Bud" Heard, was wounded in action on the 13th of July and that further particulars would be forwarded later. There was no indication to say where he was fighting when wounded but his parents surmise that he was in France. "Bud" enlisted two years ago last April in a R.C.A. unit, and frequent letters from him have come from overseas. The Whitby War Effort Committee got a card not long ago from him acknowledging receipt of cigarettes. The popular young soldier's many friends in Whitby are hoping that his wounds are not serious and that he will soon recover. - Date of Original
