This photograph is on the back of the tenth leaf of Alex Brown's album. This leaf has 4 pockets for photos on each side. In the top left pocket is a photo of a newspaper clipping with the headline "LANDS IN ENGLAND" and a photo of George Elms. The top right photo is of Alvin Sturgess. At bottom left is a photo of George Brown and bottom right is Ernie Taylor.

This photograph also appears on the front of the fourteenth leaf of Alex Brown's album. There are four photos on this leaf. The top left photo is of Pte. Leslie Perry. The top right photo is of Geo Phillips. The bottom left photo is of Bern Johnston and bottom right photo is George Elms.

Alex Brown is a local Whitby area veteran. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.

The newspaper article is about George Elms. Exact date of article unknown. Publication also unknown.

George H. Elms was born in Hamilton, Ontario and is now living in Spain. He took a flying course in 1937 after winning a contest and joined the 110th Squadron in Toronto. He received his wings in June 1939 and went overseas in 1940 as a flying officer. He became an RCAF Squadron leader in 1941. He commanded the Mosquitoes group in 1943 as a Wing Commander. In 1945 he was promoted to Group Captain. In 1946 he became staff director at the RAF staff College in England.
