- Ragnar Steen (1904-1958) was born in Frederickstad, Norway. In 1923 he came to Canada and lived in Cochrane, Ontario for some time. He married Evelyn Graham in 1926 and had two children: Lyn Steen and Karin Ragna Steen. He was a music teacher and orchestra leader who lived in Whitby from 1934 to 1947. After living in Whitby, he accepted a position as Musical Director and Band Master in Ridgetown, Ontario. He was a member of the Band Master's Association, the Registered Music Teachers Association and Piano Technicians Guild.
