- Notes
- George Henry Frewen Dartnell was born in Limerick, Ireland, on February 13, 1834, and the family came to Toronto in 1850. He opened a law office in Whitby in 1858 and was appointed Junior Judge of Ontario County on October 22, 1873, serving until December 12, 1896 when he became Senior Judge of Ontario County. He served 18 years on the Whitby Board of Education and was a captain in the local militia. Judge Dartnell died at Whitby on February 2, 1899 and is buried in Union Cemetery, Oshawa.
