Description
A black and white portrait photograph of Lyman Theophilus Barclay (1855-1925). This picture is from a frame of portraits of members of Composite Lodge No. 30, AF & AM.
Notes
Lyman Theophilus Barclay was born in Pickering Township in May, 1855. He was educated at Brooklin and Oshawa, and studied law with Farewell & McGee in Oshawa. He graduated from Osgoode Hall in 1878 and managed the office of J. V. Ham Jr. in Whitby. He became Clerk of the Ontario County Court in 1881. He also served on the Whitby Board of Education and the Board of the Ontario Ladies' College. He was President of the Whitby Public Library Board when the new Carnegie Library was built in 1913-14. In later life he moved to western Canada and died at Toronto on October 12, 1925. Lyman T. Barclay is buried at Union Cemetery, Oshawa.
