- A black and white portrait photograph of William Sinclair (1810-1899). William Sinclair is pictured seated on a chair.
- Notes
- William Sinclair was born at the Parish of Culter, Lanarkshire, Scotland, on July 11, 1810, and came to Canada in 1833. He was hired by local farmers in Whitby Township for a few years and for 14 years farmed on his own at Almonds. In 1861 he settled on lot 18, Broken Front Concession, Whitby Township where he farmed until his death there on June 30, 1899. The Sinclair farm, known as Glenrath, was purchased by the British government as the site for Camp X, a spy training base during the Second World War. William Sinclair is buried at Union Cemetery, Oshawa.
