- A black and white portrait photograph of Sylvester Earl Briggs, 1846-1926.
- Notes
- Sylvester E. Briggs was born in Whitby Township, east of Myrtle, on April 10, 1846. He moved to Toronto in 1873 and joined the firm of Steele Brothers with R.C. Steele with whom he had worked in Oshawa. The company became the Steele-Briggs Seed Company in 1900 and Sylvester E. Briggs became president in 1910. He was an honorary director and life member of the Canadian National Exhibition Association and served on the Board of Directors for 17 years. He died at Toronto on June 17, 1926 and is buried in the Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Toronto.
