Description
A black and white portrait photograph of Dr. Jonathan Foote. This photo was printed in Ontario County Doctors by Dr. T.E. Kaiser. Published by Mundy Goodfellow Printing Company Ltd. 1934.
Notes
Dr. Jonathan Foote was born in the State of Vermont, U.S.A. on October 31, 1804 and graduated from the Vermont Medical College at Castleton in 1829. In 1830 he traveled from Rutland Vermont through Buffalo, N.Y. to the village of York (Toronto). He settled in Whitby Township in 1830 and in 1835 married Robina Dow, daughter of a Scottish settler named William Dow. His area of practice extended from Scarborough Township to Hope Township along the north shore of Lake Ontario. He lived at Brooklin and died at Brooklin on January 2, 1885 and is buried at Union Cemetery, Oshawa.
