- James Rice (1807-1898) was born at Bratton Clovelly, Devonshire, England on June 10, 1807. He came to Whitby in 1854. For many years he lived north of the 3rd concession line west of Brock Street at Rice's Hill. He died at Whitby Township on February 15, 1898, and is buried in Union Cemetery, Oshawa.
Mrs. James Rice (Nancy Park) was born in County Down, Ireland, on April 12, 1819 and died at Whitby Township on September 2, 1894. she is buried in Union Cemetery, Oshawa. - Date of Original
