- A black and white photograph of John McKeown Roblin (1900-1989).
- Notes
- John McKeown Roblin was born in Hastings County, Ontario on October 20, 1900. At the age of 18 he was operating a creamery in Belleville and in 1925 he purchased the Brooklin Creamery which burned down in 1929. In 1930 he moved to Whitby and established the Roblin Creamery on Ash Street, later operating the Whitby Dairy Bar at Dundas and Byron Streets. From 1950 to 1970, Mr. Roblin was Registrar of Deeds for the County of Ontario. He was a Whitby Town Councilor in 1940 and Reeve of the Town of Whitby from 1941-1942. From 1943 to 1948 he was a member of the Whitby Board of Education. Mr. Roblin was a charter member of the Whitby Rotary Club in 1933 and President from 1939-1940. In 1976 he was named a Paul Harris Fellow, the highest honour in Rotary. He was Master of Composite Lodge in 1942 and President of the Whitby Chamber of Commerce from 1948-1949. Mr. Roblin was also chairman of the Whitby Industrial Commission, and chairman of the Board of Stewards of St. Mark's United Church. He was President of the Registrar of Deeds Association of Ontario in 1961. He died at Whitby on September 25, 1989 and was cremated.
