- A black and white portrait photograph of John Joshua Fothergill (1836-1908).
- Notes
- John Joshua Fothergill (son of Charles Fothergill and his second wife Eliza Richardson) was born on April 23, 1836. He was originally called John Joshua St. George Fothergill because he was born on St. George's Day. He purchased the north part of lot 32, concession 1, Whitby Township, in 1882 at the time of his marriage and conducted a successful farm there on the south side of Dundas Street west of Whitby until his death in Whitby Township on June 29, 1908 and is buried at the Society of Friends' Cemetery, Pickering Township (now part of Ajax).
John Joshua Fothergill's father was a Canadian naturalist and many of his drawings were turned over to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). - Date of Original
