Description: A black and white photograph of Mrs. Matthew Gold (Elizabeth Ann Reed) (1842-1926).
Notes: Elizabeth Ann Reed, daughter of David Lusk Reed, was born at lot 32, concession 2, Whitby Township, on July 22, 1842. On July 7, 1859, she and Reverend Matthew Gold were married at her father's home. They lived in Whitby from 1885 to 1903 when a financial crisis caused them to split up. She inherited a lot of money when her father died in 1887 and gave all of it to charity. She died at Toronto on September 25, 1926 and is buried in Oshawa Union Cemetery.
