This is my great-great-great Grandfather on my mothers side of the family!! Mom's mother was Leanora Davidson Bruce.All I did was google his name and Whitby Library---you opened up a whole new world for me in finding out who my ancestors are and to see their pictures is so wonderful. Thank -you. I will comment on my other relatives who you have pictures of.

Mr. Davidson was the subject of an entire chapter in the book "Highlights of Shorthorn History", by Prof. Grant MacEwan (U of Sask, U of Man, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta). He was principally responsible for the growth of the Shorthorn breed of cattle in Canada. The home he had build (by a stonemason from Ashburn) in the 1860s is still standing on Lake Ridge Road, south of the 9th Concession, Pickering). There's a good photo of the house in the Pickering archives.
