A black and white portrait photograph of William Franklin Batty.
Notes
William Franklin (Frank) Batty was born in East Whitby Township about a mile east of Kedron, on January 3, 1878. On December 30, 1903, he married Charlotte Ester Coakwell and moved to the Coakwell farm on lot 25, concession 5, Whitby Township. A breeder of Clydesdale horses, he exhibited at the Canadian National Exhibition for 70 years, starting in 1897. He won many championships with his horses, including a first and reserve champion for Maryfield Queen at the International Livestock Show at Chicago in 1922. His farm was known as Crescent Stock Farm and was taken over later by his son John Batty. Frank Batty died at his home on lot 25, concession 5, Whitby, on March 26, 1969 and is buried in Groveside Cemetery, Brooklin.
