- This is a black and white portrait of John L. Smith (1838-1928).
- Notes
- John L. Smith, a farmer on Thickson Road in Whitby Township, was one of the founders of the Ontario Ladies' College in 1874 and was second vice-president of the board in 1906. Mr. Smith was born at Whitby Township on October 11, 1838 and died at Whitby Township, on May 24, 1928. He is buried at Union Cemetery, Oshawa.
