- George Edward Oke was born at Whitby 15 September 1903. He married Helen Green in 1930 and the couple moved to Lindsay. In Lindsay, Oke was manager of J.C. Edwards Hardware Co. Ltd. and in 1947 became president of the Ontario Retail Hardware Association. Oke died at Bobcaygeon 9 October 1998.
