- Black and white negative of a photograph showing an image of a group of Whitby Collegiate Institute cadets saluting an officer in the foreground. The cadets in the background are lined up with rifles on their shoulders. The Sunday school building of Whitby United Church (St. Mark's United) is visible in the background. It was demolished in 1955.

- Whitby Collegiate Institute was built in 1873 and was located on the south side of Colborne Street between King and Centre Streets. The school was demolished in 1975-1976.
