Description
Black and white photograph of a room inside the Ontario County Jail. The room has a large table in it and a window with bars on it. This room was used for the last hanging in Ontario County. In 1946, George Bilton was hanged in this room.
Notes
The Ontario County Jail was built in 1853 at the south-east corner of King and Gilbert Streets and demolished in February 1960. It was replaced by the jail on Victoria Street in 1958.
