Cad Cid pn WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, FRIDAY, MAY 31, 1918 Communication It is my opinion that Ladies and Gentlemen should give up golf and tennis and create a productive re- creation in the garden or on a farm, as an illustration and demonstration to the mass, because, in my mind, there is no one too rich or too poor to work. . As every man knows the farmers will be very short of labor this year. That is why I consider it a great crime to persist in non-productive recreation, and daresay I find a great satisfaction in doing some useful work for my own recreation, and that is so for me, is should be for you too. I consider our well to do people our moral and material sup- port, through their knowledge and education, and they should feel obliged to come forward as our leaders and fathers; but not fathers who bid their children to do as say, but not as I do. We all know that the brave boys who are fighting so for our liberty, are going to come back and ask what we did for them, while they were fighting for us. Your answer should be: "We have bravely and proudly put our hands at the field and emptied our pockets for you". Are you going to be like a few men I know (and I dare to call them slackers and traitors), men of considerable means, who are giving a great big five dollar bill for the Red Cross contribution? It makes my heart bleed. Allow me to speak of the working girls, who, earn- ing ten dollars a week, willingly gave me four of it for the Red Cros. Henri Delebecque. Death Notice Mrs. T. E.
