KOHLSAAT has charge of the next prcgram of the series devoted to the Appreciation of Music which is being given at the Winnetka Woman's club under the auspices of the Music committee. Mrs. Kohlsaat will give a short talk on Polyphonic Music. Her theme will be most in- terestingly illustrated by a chorus of school children and a string quartet. Mrs. Edwin S. Fecheimer, one of Winnetka's most charm- ing pianists, will play a Bach prelude and Fugue. This program will be given on Thursday, November 20, at 3 o'clock. All club members are invited. oS REPARATIONS for the holiday fete at the Winnetka Woman's P club on Dec. 5 and 6 are in full swing. The sale opening Friday afternoon, Dec. 5, will present many exceptional opportunities to the women of Winnetka. It is always pleasant to buy attractive Christmas presents and at the same time help a worthy cause and there will be many especially charming articles for sale in the shape of workbags, hand-painted oil cloth, table covers and candle shades. Any one contemplating dinner parties during the Christmas holidays would do well to purchase some of the chic maids' aprons at the apro:. table. There are half a dozen sheerest organdie with collar and cuffs to match and also some dainty sets of dotted swiss, sure to bring joy and pride to the heart of the wise hostess who purchases them. Mrs. Otis Skinner will have charge of the apron table. And speaking of the holiday dinner} parties reminds one that extra food; Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. The women of Christ church guild have been noted in this community for their food sales so doubtless many households will count menting their home supplies from the store of cakes and jellies and rolls and pumpkin and mince pies that will be found at Mrs. Weart's table and also at the food table under the auspices of the evening guild. There will be a table of toys for the little ones and at another table will be some lovely children's clothes. One of the features of the Fete will be the table of comforters which is under the direction of Mrs. George Farnsworth and Mrs. J. Eager Lloyd.' Because of an opportunity to buy some of the material -wholesale and because the labor is donated these quilts will be sold at unusually at-' tractive prices below anything that can be found in Chicago of the qual- ity. In sorye of these quilts the wool is covered first with cheese cloth and the outside cover attached lightly by hand so that it is easy re- moved and washed, a feature that will be much valued by the careful housewife. In spite of all these preparations Mrs. Guthrie and Mrs. Street, the women who have charge of the sale! many announce that they can use more workers if they will only volun- teer. Mrs. Guthrie will be to re- teive donations of money to be spent on the' stock or of materials of any kind or size. ing able to evolve something beauti- ful and useful from every remnant presented to her, however small. Also she will be glad to give materials and directions to any one who will offer to do work for the sale in her own home. Mrs. Guthrie's tele- phone number is Winnetka 305. The children will undoubtedly have a glorious time at their party on Saturday, December 6. There will be no tickets printed for this affair as it has been proved that it is simpler where children are concerned, to have the admission paid at the door. There will be games, dancing, an entertainment and refreshments to amuse them and a favor for each to carry home. The rehearsals for the plays that will be given on the even- ings of December 5 and 6 are pro- gressing and some of the cleverest and best known amateurs on the north shore are taking part. How- ever, the names of both plays and players will be kept a dark secret; till the last moment.
