Northwestern University Dramatic Organization Puts cn "A Success- ful Calamity" To break your engagement at 8:30 and become betrothed to another ~ man by 9 o'clock of the same evening may seem to be rushing things a bit, but it is nothing to Miss Dorothy Carney, who plays the ingenue role in "A Successful Calamity," which was presented at the New Trier au- ditorium Friday evening by the Uni- versity Campus Players. She does it at every performance and with a skill so charming as to make the sensa- tion of being jilted a pleasant one, even to the rejected suitor. b hoe The leading feminine role was car- ried by Miss Frances Kieth, who played the part of the young wife of an overtired millionaire. This was not Miss Kieth's first appearance in amateur theatricals, as she played the leading part in "Stop Thief" last year and also a minor part in the" downtown production of "Within the Law". The play was staged for only one performance, playing this evening in Rockford.- The college players have in their vehicle a pro- duction which is a mirth provoker and which sparkles with funny situa- tions and droll lines. Others who play important roles are Donald Conzett, Harry Grove, Maurice O'- Brien and Ted Hatfield. The play is being staged under the direction of Mrs. Blanche Bannister Arnd.
