8 WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, MAY 22, 1920 EY OE OE OE O 1 O E10 Baseball Men Open Season Here Sunday Highwood Comprises Opposition; Lccals Are Members of North Shore Suburban League The Winnetka team, which is rep- resented by the Triangle Athletic club, will play its first game of the season with Highwood at the West Elm street diamond, Sunday, May 23, at 3 o'clock. The public is cordially invited. There is no charge. The North Shore Suburban league comprised of teams from Highwood, Shermerville, Highland Park, Glen- coe, Glenview, Evanston North Ends, Evanston Oakton and Winnetka will play their first games at various points along the north shore on Sunday next. The league has a scheduled season running up to the last of August and is operated under a fixed set of rules. and in conjunction with the Ameteur association of Chicago, who will pro- vide the umpires for all games. The league headquarters are established at the Winnetka Community House. REWARD FOR SCOUTS Winnetka Boy Scouts who won the recent "ticket contest", this week re- ceived a reward in the nature of a trip through Chicago film houses where they witnessed the actual pro- duction of motion pictures. The fortunate lads were Boyd Anderson and John Bell. WOMEN GOLFERS MEET There will be a Get-Together luncheon for the women members at the Bob O'Link Golf club on Wed- nesday, May 26, at 1 o'clock. Members are requested to be present to co- operate with the committee in plans for a useful and interesting season. Social Happenings The teachers of the Horace Mann school entertained the teachers of the Skokie and Greeley schools, at a tea dansant on Thursday afternoon. A delightful program was rendered by the teachers of the Horace Mann school. ---- Mrs. Edgar F. Alden, 352 Linden avenue, entertained at breakfast Sun- day morning in honor of Mrs. Le Roy Rawlings and Mrs. William C. Har- rill of Goldsboro, N. C. her house- guests. --ge-- Mr. and Mrs. Francis A. Lackner, 339 Linden street, are spending sever- al weeks motoring through Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and across the Alleghenys. At present they are at Hot Springs, Va. Mrs. Bertram Doyle and her two children of Harvey, Ill, have been spending several days with her mother, Mrs. James Weart, 278 Linden street. --e-- Miss Ann Kittel, 452 Provident avenue, left yesterday to spend a week with her parents at their home in Green Bay, Wis. Ry. Friends of Miss E. B. Ostrom, formerly of Winnetka will be in- terested to learn of her removal from Alameda to Oakland, Calif.
