i -- a ~ GLENVIEW GOLF CLUB 0 ERECT CLUBHOUSE Members Pledge Large Contributions "To Make Possible $200,000 Bend Issue For New Building If perfect unanimity of opinion means anything the members of the Glenview Golf club may soon expect to see the dirt flying preparatory to the erection of a new quarter of a million dollar clubhouse to replace the clubhouse recently destroyed by fire. At the meeting of club members held at the Evanston club this week, it was found that forty-eight men has each guaranteed any part of $5,000 toward the $200,000 bond issue, and is was further found that actual subscriptions were already in the hands of the secretary which, with the subscriptions already made, ag- gregated $95,000. All Behind Movement It was also announced that an out- side financial house had offered to make the total issue of bonds at 95. This, the officials of the club say, assures beyond peradventure that all the members of the club are behind the movement to rebuild immediately. The members passed all the nec- essary amendments to the by-laws and such resolutions as were Tre- quired to authorize the issue of bonds and to place an assessment, not to exceed $300, on every member of the club, the sum so realized to be used to make up any deficit between the bond issue of $200,000 and the ulti- mate cost of the building and other improvements which will probably be made coincident with its construc- tion. : One of the members, who holds a life membership, objected to the ex- clusion of himself and his associates from participation in the assess- ment, indicating a desire on the part of every member of the club, whether legally bound to assume the assess- ment obligation or not, to do his part. Committee Is Appointed The building committee has been appointed. It is understood that Holabird and Roche have been en- gaged as architects, and plans are going forward rapidly. It is further understood that the new clubhouse will probably be across the road which fronted the old clubhouse. This will do away with the beauti- ful driveway from Church street over the stone bridge to the clubhouse through the beautiful wooded lane. This plan is adopted to make the approach to the house on the west instead of on the east and to elimin- ate the driveway which now goes across the green to the eighteenth hole. The villain in themovies is nearly always shown as smoking a cigaret. It seems they belong together. J. D. Toloff will give his ENTIRE TIME to his Evanston studio J. D.
