T20-1tp FOR SALE--PIGEONS, CARNEUX & ELECTRICAL COURSES FOR HIGH SCHOOL MEN Chicago Public Utilities Corporations Offer To Give Special Training To Young Men A special course in central station practices, that branch of electricity that has to do with the operation of ublic, utilities, combining classroom instruction and practical experience, is announced by the Central Station Institute of Chicago, a school main- tained and operated by Chicago pub- lic utility corporations for the pur- pose of training young men for responsible positions in its organ- 1zation. The time required to complete the course is one year. It is open to young men who have completed a four-year high school course in an accredited school. Applicants must be of good moral character, without physical defects and be able to pass the physical examination of the in- stitute physician. Special Instructors The classroom. instruction is in charge of a special instructor and covers about one-half of the time during the year in the study of electric theory applied more directly to the central station industry. Laboratory instruction is combined with classroom instruction. This is given at the laboratories of the pub- lic utility corporation. The remainder of the time of this course is confined to practical ex- perience. Students are employed in the various departments of the com- pany that supports the institute, giv. ing them an opportunity to combine the study of the central station busi~ ness with their classroom work. t Paid While Learning" Students will receive pay while taking this course, from which a small fee is deducted by the insti- tute. High school graduates with a mechanical turn of mind, and who do not expect to enter college, will find this offer an opportunity to enter an industry which is growing by leaps and bounds. There is no business which offers greater opportunities to the graduate just about to start upon a business career. Applications should be made to Fred R. Jenkins, room 1647, 72 West Adams street, Chicago, IIL : It is hoped that the Socialist party will not insist that all its candidates shall have done everything possible to hinder the country when it was fighting for its life with the German power.
