2 -- Winnetka Man Makes 3,000 Mile Boat Trip Heads Party on Cruise of Lakes, Into Canadian Waters and Through "Soo" Waters Charles A. Kinney of Winnetka, and party returned to Winnetka Tuesday from a seven weeks' motor- boat trip on Mr. Kinney's cruiser, Dream Girl. The cruise was one of the longest ever undertaken by a small boat, covering nearly 3,000 miles. After visiting places of interest along both shores of Lake Michigan and Green Bay the party pushed on to Mack- inac Island and from there to the "Soo" and out on Lake Superior. Leaving the "Soo" the party en- tered Canadian waters, traversed the St. Mary's river down through St. Joseph's channel, into North Chan- nel and on to Georgian Bay and the B0,000 island district. Two weeks were spent visiting and exploring the islands, many of which are inhabited by Indians whose ancestors lived there prior to the coming of the white man. On the return voyage the party crossed Lake Huron and came down Lake Michigan by way of the Beaver and Fox islands. Accompanying Mr. Kinney were two Highland Park high school boys, Donald and Leon McDonald, James Kerr and "Gyp" Superintendent Washburne's English bull, as mascot. The party encountered many thrilling experiences aboard ship and while in camp. Upon one occasion they came upon a real, live panther and at another time effected the rescue of the yacht Dolphin, of Mil- waukee, which was found drifting helplessly on Lake Michigan. They towed the yacht 65 miles to her home port. "Gyp", the mascot, had some experiences of his own, the most noteworthy being a lively encounter with a porcupine. Mr. Kinney is in charge of shop work at the Winnetka Public schools. CAMEO ROOM CONSIDERED THE "WONDER RESTAURANT" Decorations Are by S. H.
